Woods, NHL, ManU

Woods wins Players Championship

- Despite all the talk about Sergio Garcia challenging the throne, it was Tiger Woods who won the Players Championship and he didn't even have to sweat the last hole.  Garcia, who was neck and neck with Woods for the entire weekend, and who mentioned that he didn't like Woods very much to the media on Saturday, put two balls in the water on the famous island green at Sawgrass and finished a whopping 6 shots back, tied for 8th.
- Woods, who finished at -13 for the tournament, held off a trio of other lesser known players including Kevin Streelman, David Lingerth and Jeff Maggert, who also hit one into the water on the 17th.  All three finished two shots behind Woods.
- Although the Players isn't considered a major, it's still one of the biggest tournaments in the world and Tiger's victory shows that he's still a force to be reckoned with as he will look this year for his 15th major title and his first since 2008.

Three Game 7's

- As the first round of the NHL Playoffs come to a close, 3 of the 8 series need 7 games. The Detroit Red Wings and the Anaheim Ducks played theirs last night. The #7 ranked Detroit sprinted out to a 3-1 lead in the 2nd period and didn’t look back, defeating the #2 ranked Ducks 3-2.
- The New York Rangers, riding the incredible play of goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, defeated the Washington Capitals 1-0 in game 6 to force a game 7. Game 7 will be tonight in Washington.
- The Boston Bruins were up 3-1 going into game 5, but the Toronto Maple Leafs ripped off two straight 2-1 wins to force a game 7 Monday night in Boston. Incredibly, Game 6 was the first time the Maple Leafs had beat the Bruins at home in the playoffs since the 1950's.

ManU Sends Ferguson off in Style

- Manchester United, the UK soccer juggernaut, sent their legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson off to retirement in style with another Premier League championship. It was Ferguson’s 13th League title in 27 years with Man U. In addition, Ferguson has 2 Euro Cups and 5 FA Cup titles, and 38 trophies overall.
Ferguson, who was knighted in 1999, goes down as one of the greatest coaches in any sport. He made Man U not only relevant but a dominant force in the highly competitive league. In the 80 years before he got there, Man U had won 7 league titles, he almost doubled that in only 27 years.
- A replacement has already been named. The current Everton manager David Moyes is set to replace Ferguson next season although it will be hard for him to live up to the job done by his predecessor.
